I had a straw wreath that I had acquired for free as a yard sale leftover. I used some scraps from the pants of the Homemade Faux-Vest Vampire Costume, and wrapped strips around the wreath form. I left the straw with the plastic covering on and just used straight pins on the backside to attach the fabric.
Then I found a scrap of cream-colored felt in my stash pile and cut strips to make a striped wreath. I pinned these on the backside, too.
Remember that black glittery cardboard tree decoration I got from walmart for 97cents? It was on my mantle as part of my Fall Decor. I decided it would make a pretty awesome element in my Halloween wreath ; ) I attached it to the left side on the back, with a little hot glue and some straight pins in the bottom corners. It's close to the side so that one branch is pinned on the very end, too. I layered the second part that was used to make it stand up, so that you couldn't see the slots anymore.
L-O-V-I-N-G it...
...but it did need a little more, so I found some orange paper flowers in my scrapbook stash and layered them with a black and white polka dot paper center, and some orange and black ribbon on the back. I used the same ribbon as a hanger. I threw a few little sprays of white tulle in there, too, and inked the edges of the flower petals with some black ink.
Better!
Because of the tree taking up residence in the center of this wreath, I couldn't hang it on the front door over the knocker. I chose to hang it on the wall in the entryway instead.
It still felt like it was missing something...the next day I went back and made a mini pennant to hang across the top. This printable Spooky Pennant from Paging Supermom was perfect, because the template has a cover page with a mini version! I just printed page one, cut it out, glued it onto some more ribbon, added a pennant on either end in the same black and white polka dot paper from the flowers...and attached it with straight pins on the backside of the wreath. So fun! I think I'm getting better at this ; )
This wreath made the top 10 at The CSI Project!
