Our party friends will be feeding this monkey some banana bean bags! I used the same template from the Banana Hunt to make a beanbag liner. I did this with felt (no muslin on hand), and simply zig-zagged the outside, leaving an opening to fill it with dry beans, and then zig-zagging it closed.
I laid the filled liner on top of yellow felt and traced around, cutting two layers just outside the line.
I stitched vertically with brown thread on each front and back piece.
Each bean bag has a front, back and brown felt stem piece. I just eyeballed the stem, it was maybe 1/2" by 1 1/2".
I put the front and back pieces together, right sides facing out (make sure the tracing line is on the inside), and tucked the folded stem piece in between the layers at the top.
Then I zig-zagged around the edges, leaving about 2" open at the base end.
I sewed this bit two times, then wiggled the bean bag liner inside and zig-zagged the opening closed.
Felt is so easy to work with! No need to worry about unfinished edges. These turned out great, and Little Man practiced with them for probably half an hour. I think he is planning to hijack them for his play kitchen after the party ; )
I made four Banana Bean Bags to go with our Feed the Monkey game.

I'm seriously LOVING all your monkey ideas! I may have to steal...er, I mean BORROW them for when my little guy is just a tad older. He's only 9 months old...so we have a bit, but still...love these ideas!
ReplyDeleteLove this. Totally pinned it for my two monkeys to play!
ReplyDeleteSo, I'm doing a monkey party for my two year old and plan to do this same thing. I don't suppose you could make a PDF of this 6 sheeted monkey game for me to print and make? That would be amazing!
