loving, looking, cooking, catching, missing

CURRENTLY loving... having a blog co-author. It's so fun to be doing all this with another person! Tiffany is a creative gem : ) Most days we are texting each other back and forth all day long, bouncing ideas off each other, cheering each other on, and just sharing our daily woes and triumphs in general. Splitting the blog responsibilities is great, but more than that, I am just loving having a good friend to share all this with!
CURRENTLY looking... for more potential titles for our Christmas Book Countdown. I have maybe half so far. I begged talked Tiffany into partnering this venture with me, so now she's on the hunt at her own library. We are going to split the countdown odds/evens and take every other day, to share a book review and craft/activity, from December 1st to Christmas.
CURRENTLY cooking... um...nothing? Sliding down a slippery slope as a kitchen slacker. But I have a secret weapon and his name is SuperHubs. Every weekend Hubs clips coupons and tackles the grocery store. Then he cuts up whole chickens and roasts them for the week. Stuffing and gravy from scratch lately as a Sunday meal. Then he makes ahead his batches of homemade pizza dough for Friday Pizza Night. He's amazing. When it's my turn, I make sandwiches or pancakes. I used to have a button on my sidebar that said "Behind every good blog is an unfed husband." HA! Maybe he just got tired of that ; ) I think I've officially been demoted in this area.
CURRENTLY catching... up on Game of Thrones season 2. Read all the books (minus the last, which was yet unpublished) a few years ago and trying to explain to Hubby as we go.
CURRENTLY missing... my clean house. With the recent growth of the blog (which is the most exciting thing!?!) , my work hours have increased as well. I refer to blogging as my "work"/my job, because, well, it is similar to a full time position. I spend as much time managing social media, linkies, responding to emails, replying to comments, promoting sponsorships, and editing pics as I do actually MAKING crafts and posting about them. As a result, there is a new state of "normal" happening here in the Craft, Interrupted house. It's called - The House is a Colossal Disaster Zone. I need to find a happy balance.

CURRENTLY loving... just about everything. Wouldn't we all like to say that? But seriously. You know how life seems like it's in a constant motion of up and down? Well I spent the past year in a state of down. One of those years that seem like nothing is going my way. But recently life seems to be taking and positive spin and I am a current state of glee.
CURRENTLY looking... a little tired. With the holiday, work, crafting, blogging, etc, I've forgotten what it was like to have a full night's sleep! I always intend on getting to bed at a normal hour but find something to keep me up each night. On a good note. I used to wake in the middle of the night and it would take me an hour to go back to sleep. That is no longer a problem. I am dead to the world until that alarm rings and then it's all I can do to drag myself into that shower.
CURRENTLY cooking... what I call poor man's food. A while ago I pinned this blog post from fun, cheap or free that gives you an easy way to keep track of your money and control your spending. Something that I regrettably need to work on. In a nutshell, it states that you split your month up into 4 weeks and allot each week a certain amount of grocery money and some money for everything else you spend your credit card on. As far as groceries go, the system states that you should be spending $100 a month per family member. Which means that my family of 4 should be spending $100 a week on groceries. I'm not sure about you, but in the past this has been close to impossible. I've been doing pretty awesome, I must say but I need to figure things out better because spending less at the grocery store means my dinner menu looks a little like this - canned chili, pancakes, spaghetti minus the meat, fish sticks, baked potatoes, frozen pizza, and pbj the last day because we ran out of food. So, unless I want to revert to my college ways and eat ramen and frozen McDonald's .37 hamburgers everyday, I need to plan things better.
CURRENTLY catching... the Instagram bug. I am slowly learning the benefits of Instagram beyond just taking cool pictures. It's also a great way to share and promote! This month I am taking pictures of the things I'm thankful for. The girls at eighteen25 have even provided a book cover if you want to make it into a book. If you want to take part in this too, just use #novemberthankful on Instagram and we can all follow along!
CURRENTLY missing... my family. It never fails. This time of year, I am very aware of how far I am from my family. We always keep busy, but with every event I find myself wishing some family member were experiencing it with me. And sometimes it lead to daydreams about how it would be if they actually showed up on my doorstep that day. I also find myself wishing I were back in Oregon. No matter where I move or how long I've lived there, Oregon is always where I call "home" and it's where I always wish I were spending my holidays.

Jaim - So glad to hear J is doing some home-made cooking! Homemade pizza is really awesome. Sunday dinners sound amazing! Looking forward to seeing the fam soon!
ReplyDeleteHe thinks it's relaxing, so it's a win-win ; )
DeleteMy husband also does most of the grocery shopping and we split the cooking - he also does pizza! Those are the best dinners since everyone (except the littlest can join in on the making bit) and ugh, yeah I miss a clean house..oh wait, I'll settle for tidy. Is that too much to ask? Apparently, it is.
ReplyDeleteYou are right - it's fun to let our boys help out with pizza night! Great memories in the making : )
